A Free Lido Opens In East London's Docks This Summer

The free-to-use lido is open for a large chunk of the summer holidays.

A temporary lido on east London's Royal Docks opens later this summer.

Summer Splash is at the Royal Docks near City Hall from Friday 25 July-Sunday 17 August 2025, a free-to-use pool penned into the docks using floating platforms. For young families, there are kids' lessons and sandpits, while older swimmers might want to take advantage of a 'lates' DJ series, and a wood-fired Sweheat sauna.

The lido — which is unheated — will be manned by lifeguards.

Those wanting to make the most of the water beyond the lido can get involved in wakeboarding from WakeUpDocklands, and open water swimming, including Dock2Dock swims' 10th anniversary.

Summer Splash is part of At the Docks, a programme of arts and events around the Royal Docks, including A State Of Trance music festival (2 July); Ensemble Festival (26-27 July) feat. two days of free outdoor circus, dance, physical theatre and street art; plus new artwork by photographer Hélène Amouzou on The Line public art trail.
