Festibowl's New Canary Wharf Venue Has Got Your Summer Social Sorted

Stumped for ideas for an office summer party?

Forget about crazy golf and step away from the karaoke (seriously, put that microphone down). Meet Festibowl, the new work social idea taking over London.

It's the quintessentially British game of lawn bowls, with added street food, a fully loaded bar, and a whole dose of theatricality — what's not to like? Go head to head with colleagues, friends and clients in the sophisticated game, with a drink in hand, all in a summery al fresco setting.

Suffice to say, it's not lawn bowls as your grandparents know it, but it is super easy to pick up (something you'll be grateful for a couple of drinks in), making it accessible to everyone... and ideal for breaking the ice if you're wining and dining clients this summer.

After successful summers in Finsbury Square and a recent dabble in London Bridge, Festibowl is expanding with a new Canary Wharf location, open for a limited time only this August. Be one of the first to play on this new pop-up green, located in Montgomery Square — the area's iconic skyscrapers towering over you as you limber up (and limber up you must, as it's very competitive fun).

Not much of a player? That's fine too — just pop along for a couple of drinks or a bite to eat after work and watch other people do the hard graft. You're guaranteed entertainment, as Festibowl's resident MC, Mr. Benjamin Owls Esq, offers an outrageously funny commentary to each game. Sports screens are located at the venue, so you can keep one eye on the bowls, and the other on the Ashes.

And about those food offerings... how does jerk chicken, Korean barbecue and vegan hot dogs sound? Traders including Mama’s Jerk, Popdogs, The Bowler, Baggio Burger, Carcass London and Hanok all rotate throughout Festibowl's season. Meat eaters, veggies and vegans are always catered for and the regularly changing menu means you've got an excuse to go back again... and again.

So if your office usually has a summer social, why not hit up Festibowl for drinks, food and competitive fun in one al fresco setting. And if your company doesn't really do summer parties... well, there's no time like the present to start.

Festibowl Canary Wharf is open 6-23 August 2019. Festibowl Finsbury Square is open two days a month until September. Check out Festibowl on Instagram for an idea of the fun you can expect.
