Eid celebrations return to Trafalgar Square on 20 April 2024, with a day of Islamic-inspired music, food and family activities.

Eid al-Fitr (the Festival of Sweets) marks the end of the fasting/praying/reflecting period of Ramadan for Muslims. It's expected to fall on Wednesday 10 April 2024 in the UK, although Eid in the Square won't be celebrated in Trafalgar Square until a week and a half later.

The full line-up for Eid in the Square is yet to be announced, but the event will involve:

  • A main stage with music, dancing and presentations throughout the afternoon
  • The Inspiring Muslim Awards, celebrating unsung heroes nominated by Londoners
  • A kids zone with calligraphy, storytelling, drama and poetry workshops
  • Food stalls with delicious dishes from various countries that are home to Muslims

In previous years there's been a 'Colours of Eid Parade' grand finale, featuring a sea of stunning costumes led by Dhol drummers walking through the Square. The London Eye has also been illuminated with a crescent moon light display to mark Eid al-Fitr — so look out for that too.

And there are already Ramadan lights on Coventry Street in the West End for you to enjoy right now.
