Floating markets, kayaking sessions and live music come to west London this month, as the Brentford Canal Festival returns.
The annual event, organised by Brentford Voice, returns to Brentford for a day of entertainment to celebrate the local waterways. Wander among market stalls, enjoying food and drink from pop-ups (think hot food trucks, deli dishes, and sweet treats) and watch live performances. Keep the kids entertained with face painting and arts and crafts workshops, and see Morris dancers in action. Feel like getting even closer to the water? Take part in a free kayaking session or a boat trip, or browse the floating market.
Whether you're a Brentford local, or you've never set foot in the area before, get better acquainted while taking in the festival atmosphere. Live music is performed on six stages dotted around the vicinity, at Workhouse Dock, Brentford Lock West, Market Place, Gauging Lock, Brentford Lock Piazza and local pub The Beehive — giving you an excellent excuse to explore.
Also swing by the Duke of London's classic and supercar car boot sale (located on Bradshaw Lane, The Brentford Project), with vintage clothing, automobilia, artwork and vinyls sold from some seriously impressive sets of wheels.
