The Punchbowl

The Punchbowl

Part of our Best Pubs in London microsite. Is your local listed?

The Punchbowl is arguably Mayfair's most atmospheric pub. Its dark-wooden, dimly lit interior is a timeless space... one to end up in on a frosty winter's night, especially if you can bag one of the booth-style tables towards the back.

View it with the lights full on, though, and it snaps into modernity, with funky wallpaper and polished fittings. Upstairs, things get smarter still, with Judy's restaurant serving pub classics at Mayfair prices (£22 for fish and chips, anyone?).

Food options in the bar area include this curly wurly sausage

The Punchbowl goes back some 300 years and it's attracted a fair few characters in that time, most notably Guy Ritchie and Madonna who bought the place in 2008. It's since changed hands a couple of times and is now run by Butcombe Brewing Co.
