The Lord Stanley nearly closed a few years ago, when its landlords tried to sell up. The locals weren't having their favourite pub disappear, so now the place is listed as an asset of community value, guaranteeing its future.
Ales aren't plentiful here, but there are at least a few choices to keep the more discerning customer satisfied. There's also an extensive food menu — including a collection of stone baked pizzas — as you'd expect in a quality gastropub.
