This grand old Fuller's house is the only place worth drinking along this particularly long, straight stretch of Finchleydom. It's a sprawling old corner house, though such is the popularity (or dearth of competition) that all those tables are full on a Friday or Saturday.

No surprises with the ale, which is a staunchly Fuller's selection. The Thai kitchen also has a solid English menu, offering a wider range of dishes than many a local.
The place has smartened up a bit in the past few years. A tired old red carpet has been replaced by something less characterful, but a whole lot cleaner. At least it still has a carpet — not all that common in London pubs these days.

This is a comfortable, cosy pub with plenty of banquettes and a roaring fire in winter. Yeah, we'd be quite happy if this were our local.
