Pub On The Park is the does-what-it-says-on-the-tin sort of place. It is a pub on a park. Park in question? Hackney's beautiful London Fields. On a summer evening the aroma of nearby barbecues wafts over into the spacious beer garden, where east Londoners kick back and catch-up.
The pub tempts with its own BBQ range between Thursday and Sunday. Simpler fare includes a tasty, if not stunning, falafel burger. There's a decent beer selection too, including locally-made Five Points brews.
Admittedly, on our visit, we weren't there for the food, nor the beer garden — but with the express intention of watching the World Cup. There were two games on this particular night, and our eyes desperately flitted between both, on one of the pub's seven big screens. In short: it's good for sport.
Every time we poked our head up for air, we noticed how lovely the pub is. We just didn't do that too often.
