Craft ale pubs in railway arches are pleasingly common in Zones 2 and 3, but in the middle of the Square Mile? The Pelt Trader, named for its proximity to the Skinners' Company livery hall, is the only one we can think of.

It's a cosy place, in that the single arched room gets *very* busy come the 5pm office kick-out. Head over in the afternoon, however, and you can see the place at its laid-back best.

With around 20 taps, dispensing an ever-changing ale selection, this is one of the best places in the City to find an unfamiliar brew. The food looks sumptuous, too, with lampshade-sized pizzas the thing to do.

Not like anything else in the Square Mile.
