Never mind 'five points' — you could just about call this sprawling brewery 'five acres'. It starts humble, with a narrow taproom facing onto the busy Mare Street. But step through the magic doors and the place opens out into a cathedral of beer.

There are larger breweries around town, but not many on this scale so close to the centre. Walk past the many tuns and kegs (or book onto a tour if you want to learn more) and you'll enter a sizeable courtyard, with a marquis that nestles up against the railway tracks. The venue then continues with a second bar and event space inside the arches.

It's the perfect venue for a large party — which is exactly what we did in celebration of Londonist's 20th anniversary in 2024. But equally, the front tap room is perfect for a more intimate drink with a small group. They feed in 18 different lines of Five Points beer.

The brewery was originally located about a mile up the road near Hackney Downs station, taking its name from the five-way junction where Amhurst Road meets Dalston Lane. They quickly outgrew their premises though, and moved everything to the present site in 2021. It's a great place to brew beer, and to drink it.
