We've been drinking in this place since 1998, and it's not changed a jot in all that time. Neither ye olde nor totally modern, the Crown and Sceptre is just a decent all-rounder. It will never thrill, but also never disappoint.
That said, it does have some neat touches, like the Victorian ceiling and the cosy "Den" space towards the back. The outside of the building is also rather striking.
If you're visiting, be sure to also pop down into The Attendant outside — a stylish coffee bar built into the former subterranean toilets.
