This Helpful Map Has More Than 100 Ideas For Delightful Day Trips Near London
Mersea Island in Essex - one of the stunning islands worth a visit

We love you London, but absence makes the heart grow fonder.

That's why sometimes, we venture beyond the capital, covering the cool, quirky, fun things to get up to beyond London's borders. And we've now compiled a map of day trips — places you can easily visit when you need to escape the big smoke for a few hours.

From quaint towns and villages to PYO farms, beaches, and islands in the Thames, you'll find them in our interactive map — and it now has more than 100 different locations pinpointed. Click on an icon for more information about that place, including a link to an article or video we've created to tell you more about it, and why you should visit.

Castles, you say? We've got that covered in both Kent and Sussex - other regions coming soon.

Many places are accessible by public transport; others are more remote and require a car. A couple are even further afield, and warrant taking a whole weekend to visit. Perhaps you could join up a few in an epic road trip? Visit a quirky museum in the morning, wander through a corn maze at lunchtime, and spend the afternoon at the seaside? Sounds idyllic.

The London Bus Museum sits just beyond the London border

The map is a work in progress, and we'll continue adding it to it as we visit and discover more places. Bookmark it now, and check back next time you're planning a day trip, long weekend or bank holiday out of the capital.

Looking good, Whitstable.
