Review: Between The Sheets With Miss Polly Rae Miss Polly Rae: Between the Sheets 4

Men audibly gulp as Miss Polly Rae — all Jessica Rabbited up — singles them out for a personal performance, using their laps as a makeshift stage. It's one of the more traditional skits in Between the Sheets — the coming together (so to speak) of a salacious supergroup of accomplished burlesque, circus and dance acts.

While all those oversized martini glass routines (this one's a flaming martini) stay in, the theatrics go dirtier and deeper than your average burlesque. Lily Snatchdragon coos X-rated songs from Oliver!, and steals the show in the process. At odds with such pithy panto — yet swirling delicately into the love potion that is Between the Sheets — are some sensual aerial acrobatics worthy of Cirque du Soleil. Like a fizz-induced orgy, this is a messy, heady, and exceptionally fun night.

Miss Polly Rae: Between the Sheets, Underbelly, 30 Queen's Walk, Lambeth, SE1 8XX. 4 August, 18 August, 25 August, 8 September, 29 September, from £22.50.
