Lewisham Will Now Be Borough Of Culture In 2022, Not 2021
Lewisham will now be Borough of Culture in 2022

London's Borough of Culture is undergoing a big reschedule, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The current Borough of Culture, Brent, is rescheduling its programme to later in 2020, the deputy mayor for culture and creative industries, Justine Simons has announced.

Meanwhile, two major Brent Borough of Culture events, Kilburn High Street Party and Liberty Festival (the Mayor of London's free festival celebrating of the work of deaf and disabled artists), will be pushed back to the summer of 2021.

Lewisham was due to be London Borough of Culture next year, but will shift to 2022 — originally a 'fallow year' for the Borough of Culture title.

Croydon will remain London Borough of Culture for 2023.

Said Justine Simons OBE "We will work closely with artists, the boroughs and all those involved to ensure they are supported during these challenging times."
