Famous costumes worn by characters in EastEnders go on display in a new exhibition.

To mark 40 decades of the cockney soap, Hoxton's Museum of the Home opens EastEnders at 40: Icons of Home and Drama on Thursday 20 February — the day after the soap broadcasts an hour-long live episode to mark its anniversary.

Alfie Moon's shirt and Kat Slater's leopard print coat and black dress will feature in the display.

Different costumes and props will be on display each month throughout the rotating exhibition. Pat Butcher's famously oversized earrings, Frank Butcher's spinning bow tie, Kat Slater's leopard print coat, Shirley Carter's trench coat, and the red number worn by Janine Butcher when she pushed Barry over a cliff edge all feature too.

Mick Carter's comically short dressing gown will be on display

Items from more recent years feature too, such as the short pink dressing gown worn by Danny Dyer in the role of Mick Carter, and a flamingo dress worn by his wife Linda, as landlord and lady of the Queen Vic.

Costumes from Syed and Amira's wedding in 2010.

EastEnders at 40: Icons of Home and Drama is at the Museum of the Home 20 February-June 2025. Entry is free.
