Catlantis: The Pawsome New Cat Cafe Opening In London

A new cat cafe is due to open in Marylebone.

Catlantis caters to Londoners whose lifestyle doesn't allow them to have a pet, offering them somewhere to have a cup of tea or coffee while getting to know the resident moggies.

While animal themed cafes have been controversial in the past (see: foxes, owls, micropigs...), London is already home to the successful Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium, which opened in 2014 and is still going strong.

The plan is to have 15 rescued cats in the cafe, all fostered from a local shelter. Part of the revenue created from the cafe was originally due to be donated to feline welfare charity Cats Protection, which provides cats and kittens in shelters with food, veterinary treatment and care. However, the charity has since been removed from the Catlantis website due to its concerns about cat cafes.

In a comment on an Instagram post, Catlantis said that "The cafe is coming up with various solutions to make the cats feel they are in a homely environment."

Beyond that, few details about Catlantis have yet been revealed. In mid-July it was announced that the cafe was "coming next month".

Keep an eye on the Catlantis website, and follow the cafe on Instagram and Twitter for further updates.
