Free Flower Festival Chelsea In Bloom To Return, With Brand New Theme
A bony participant of last year's Chelsea in Bloom.

Extraordinary Voyages is the theme for this year's Chelsea in Bloom festival, it has been revealed.

The free flower festival returns to Sloane Square, King's Road and surrounding areas in May 2020. There's a golden age of travel slant to this year's floral installations, inspired by Around The World In 80 Days.

Full details haven't yet been revealed, but we've got a feeling it could be our favourite theme to date — concept art on the Chelsea in Bloom website shows colourful renderings of the Egyptian pyramids, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and our fingers are firmly crossed for a psychedelic hot air balloon made of various blooms.

Shops, restaurants, bars and hotels in the area take part, erecting floral arches, sculptures and window displays which draw in the crowds. There's a competition for the best displays, and there's usually a fairly impressive festival hub in Sloane Square. Past themes have included Under The Sea and the Language of Love.

Chelsea in Bloom takes place to coincide with Chelsea Flower Show each year. Belgravia in Bloom, another free festival nearby, also runs the same week, and is promising us glowing flowers in 2020.

Chelsea in Bloom 2020 takes place 18-23 May in various Chelsea locations. It's free to visit, and we'll update this page with more information closer to the time.
