Slice, Slice Baby: Plans To Launch London's First Sweet Pie Bar Revealed

Feast your pies on this: a crowdfunding campaign to create London's first pie bar has just launched.

The plans come from A Pie Party, which has been trading at London's markets for two years, serving up all manner of tempting sweet pies. Bourbon pecan, Biscoff brownie, toffee popcorn and blueberry crumble are just some of the flavours that have been available recently. And to have those available at a permanent venue is something we have strong fillings about.

Owner Claire now feels it's time to purchase her own, ahem, slice of London and set up a permanent home in the capital. Apparently, the ideal premises have suddenly become available, which is why the crowdfunder has launched so suddenly, but Claire's keeping schtum about the location.

The pie bar would have "chilled coffee shop vibes during the day and a more fun, upbeat atmosphere in the evenings", according to the plans, with a menu that extends beyond pies.

A permanent base means A Pie Party could offer items not currently possible on a roaming stall, such as indulgent ice cream sundaes, and warm cookies with the option to add ice cream or hot fudge sauce.

Cocktails are planned too — with a pie theme, naturally — including a lemon meringue cocktail, classic bourbon old fashioned, and millionaire's shortbread offering. There are also plans for regular open mic nights, and local artists will be able to display their work on the walls of the bar.

More than £2,000 was pledged in the first five days of the crowdfunder, but there's still a long way to go to reach the £80,000 target. Rewards up for grabs include a free slice of pie on your birthday, a limited edition tote bag, a customised pie, a cocktail masterclass, and your own private pie party.

Sounds like pie-fection to us.

The London's first pie bar crowdfunder campaign is live until 28 October, by which time it needs to raise £80,000. Keep a pie on the plans by following A Pie Party on Instagram for updates.
