Food Review: Roast Has A New Brunch Menu... And It's Superb

When you tell people you're going for a meal at Roast, they seem genuinely excited for you — like you've just bought a new car or been handed a promotion. The Borough Market restaurant has become a byword for quality British meat dishes (and very good veggie ones), and it's not just about the beef wellingtons these day — the brunches are superb too.
It's a surprise, perhaps, that fish features heavily on the new brunch menu. Yet as soon as you take a bite of the buttery lobster benedict, everything makes perfect sense. The Portland crab omelette looks good, too. Slabs of meat do not get short shrift: and the gold medal goes to the magnificently salty bacon chop, draped with a smoked 'Londoner' sausage. This place continues to be a meat mecca — all day long.
Roast does brunch every Saturday. Roast, The Floral Hall, Stoney Street, SE1 1TL
