Cocktails in the City Summer 2019

Exciting cocktails, summer sun and a stunning Georgian garden — sounds like the stuff top London weekends are made of, right? If you're already chomping at the bit, get Friday 12 and Saturday 13 July in your diary, stat. Cocktails in the City is coming to London.

If you haven't already heard of Cocktails in the City, here's what you need to know. This al fresco festival sees 25 of London's best bars up sticks from their usual digs to bring all their tasty talent under one, glorious roof. And we say roof, but this is a summer party we're talking about. Everything takes place in the open air of the beautiful Bedford Square Gardens — a private green space tucked away behind the British Museum that's usually closed off to the public.

Attracting the leaders in London's world-class cocktail scene, you can be sure that this is far more than your average summer soiree. Beloved bars such as Bourne & Hollingsworth, Nightjar, Ella Canta and Mr Fogg's come together to spirit Londoners away during two days of delectable drinks and sensory experiences. Interactive games, guided masterclasses and tucked-away Tasting Rooms will ensure attendees become fully immersed in cocktail culture, learning from the best of the best.

Speaking of which, there's a crown up for grabs. Every single one of the 25 bars on hand will battle it out to impress you, competing to win the coveted title of London's best bar. Yep, the power is in your hands. And it tastes good.

As well as tipples to suit all tastes, Cocktails in the City also celebrates women in the industry. Visitors will find a dedicated pop-up bar led by top female bartenders, where each master mixologist will flex their creative muscles and treat visitors to a brand new collection of Champagne Laurent-Perrier cocktails, developed especially for the festival. That's worth a toast in itself.

And while many of you may simply drool at the thought of a no-holds-barred day of cocktail quaffing, we're sure some of you want to know what you can pad your stomachs with. It's good news there too, because some of the capital's favourite street food traders will be plying their wares. Dough up at Lost Boys Pizzas, go fusion at Indian Street Kitchen, gobble up gyoza at Rainbo or swing by Rock a Dolla for a taste of their vegan and vegetarian treats. It's the cherry atop your piña colada. Bottoms up!

Tempted? Of course you are. Check out Cocktails in the City at Bedford Square Gardens from 5-10pm on Friday 12 July and 12-5pm/5.30-10pm on Saturday 13 July. Tickets cost just £20, and include a free welcome cocktail of your choosing.
