An Indoor Picnic Oasis Is Coming To Covent Garden - With Sainsbury's Hampers Worth Over £55 For Just A Fiver!

Picnics are one of the best bits of a London summer but — with the weather we've been having lately — al fresco feasting feels unseasonably risky right now. A great time, then, for Sainsbury's to launch an indoor picnicker's paradise in the heart of Covent Garden.

On Friday 21 and Saturday 22 June (that's National Picnic Week, FYI), the Sainsbury's Picnic Pavilion takes over The Stables in Seven Dials. Inside, you'll be transported to a garden oasis and handed a curated hamper filled to the brim with delectable delights from the Sainsbury's new summer range. There are over £55 worth of goodies in here — all included in your £5 ticket, which grants groups of up to six guests a 90-minute picnic slot. How's that for a bargain?

So, what kind of goodies will you be tucking into? To name a few, there's the Taste the Difference All Day Breakfast Scotch Egg and Taste the Difference Dinky Feta & Tomato Puffs, for those who appreciate the classics with a twist. You've also got the Taste the Difference Bruschetta Platter and Taste the Difference Mexican Style Corn Fritters, to transport you to warmer climes. And no picnic would be complete without sweet treats and summery drinks, so Sainsbury's are throwing lashings of those in, too. Mixed and veggie hampers are both available, with vegan and gluten-free substitutes available on request.

As it's all happening indoors, you won't have to worry about your baked goods getting soggy in the rain (recent research has revealed that 30% of Brits admit they've put off planning a picnic due to the unpredictable weather). You'll also avoid mood-dampeners like pesky insects (a bugbear — if you'll pardon the pun — for 37% of those surveyed) and lack of space (crowded areas was the biggest concern for 23% would-be picnickers).

What's more, you'll be helping great causes as you graze, with all ticket proceeds going to Comic Relief.

Your £5 ticket (which gives entry to up to six guests) can be booked in advance via DesignMyNight. Batches of tickets are released here regularly, so keep checking back if necessary. Alternatively, just turn up — if space is available, you'll simply be asked to make your £5 donation on the day.

Sainsbury's Picnic Pavilion. Open noon-8.15pm on Friday 21 June and Saturday 22 June at The Stables (Covent Garden). Tickets here.
