Cash isn't dead just yet — not as long as one person keeps hiding it in bushes around London.

London Cash Catch is an Instagram account with a simple premise: the content creator films themself secreting a 10, 20 — sometimes even a 50 pound note — in a public London space: hedges, benches, flower beds, even occasionally down the sides of bus seats.

A close up of the money drop is followed with a wider shot, giving more context to the location (often next to/opposite a famous landmark like the Walkie-Talkie or Leadenhall Market).

Savvy Londoners will often be able to work out the rough whereabouts of the wonga within seconds — but finding the exact location of the note is trickier (and it'll involve some scrabbling too, so scrabblers only need apply). Plus you've got 87k+ followers to contend with, so your chances of being first to the paper treasure really hinge on how close you are to the money, and how many other cash hunters are already sniffing around the vicinity.

Safe to say, the cash is usually found pretty quickly (the planter apparently is usually still in the area, informing followers when it's been found). But who knows, if you're in the right place at the right time, maybe there's a free round of drinks with your name on it. Although good luck finding a bar that accepts cash.
