Wheeee! The release date for tickets for London’s spectacular New Year’s Eve fireworks has been announced. The first batch goes on sale on 27 September.

The London Eye forms the centrepiece of the city's annual colourful blowout, which features 12,000 fireworks, 2,000 lighting cues and 30 tonnes of equipment — all set to a stirring soundtrack.

For the fifth year running, tickets cost £10 (not a bad deal if you ask us). They'll be available from the Mayor of London's website from midday on 27 September.

Tickets are released in batches, so if you don't strike it lucky this time, don't despair. However, you 100% need a ticket to get near the fireworks — so if you're keen to go, we suggest trying for batch #1.

Expect lots of this. Image: Shutterstock

If you score yourself a ticket, you'll join 100,000 others along the banks of the Thames for New Year's Eve. If you don't, you'll have to settle watching it with the other 12 million TV viewers.
