Just as Christmas is a joyous time for some, it is a lonely time for many others. But there are people trying to help.

Like Caribbean restaurant Cummin Up on Lewisham High Street. Ever since 2008, it's offered free Christmas Day meals to anyone who's lonely or a few quid short.

Despite specialising in Caribbean food for the other 364 days of the year, Cummin Up keeps it mostly traditional on 25 December. Think turkey, sprouts, parsnips and roast potatoes, with just a nod to the restaurant's usual cuisine, in the form of jerk chicken. The restaurant expects to serve up to 150 people this year.

It's not the only spot in London to offer such a service. The Alexandra in Wimbledon does something similar, for anyone who's alone on Christmas Day.

Cummin Up is on 389 Lewisham High Street, and is open 1pm-6pm on Christmas Day.
