You might be running round doing the last of your Christmas shopping this weekend, but it looks like Santa's already been to London Zoo (along with a few other tourist hot spots).

Some of the zoo's animals received festive gifts including stockings, advent calendars and balls designed like Christmas puddings. Between us and you, the gifts were actually prepared by the zookeepers rather than Santa — but don't tell the animals that, eh?

Asiatic lionesses Heidi, Indi and Rubi woke up to a 'Christmas pudding’ — a giant ball scented with cinnamon and nutmeg — gifted by the Zoo’s Land of the Lions sponsors, Liontrust.

Meanwhile, the Zoo’s troop of critically endangered Western Lowland gorillas made a start on that advent calendar, finding vegetables including Brussels sprouts hidden behind each door. It's not to our taste, but each to their own.

And because it wouldn't be Christmas without a camel or two, Bactrian camels Noemie and Genghis had breakfast served in a super-sized stocking.
