The date of Covent Garden's 2025 Christmas lights switch-on has been announced.
The decorations — including 40 gigantic golden bells adorned with bows, 12 giant baubles, and eight spinning mirror balls — are back for a third season, adding more than a splash of festive cheer to the Market Hall building.
A 55ft Christmas tree will once again take up residence inside the Piazza, illuminated by 30,000 LED lights. An additional 260,000 LED lights illuminate the Piazza and surrounding streets. The festive theme for Covent Garden in 2025 is 'The Theatre of Christmas'.
The official Covent Garden Christmas lights switch-on event takes place on Wednesday 12 November 2025, — and as with previous years, expect various pop-ups and events planned for the festive season including mulled wine stations, and a Christmas sleigh photo opportunity in the Market Hall. Outlandishly festive Covent Garden bar Miracle will also return — and is open for booking now.
