Fancy spending Christmas in prison this year? Don't worry — it's not so much a case of doing bird, as tucking into a succulent roast turkey.
This December, The Clink — a restaurant at HMP Brixton, where the food is prepared and served by inmates — is dishing up a two- and three-course Christmas dinner from Tuesday 2 December-Sunday 21 December 2025.
Aside from traditional roast turkey with all the trimmings followed by Christmas pud, menu options include roasted pumpkin tartlet, wild mushroom-stuffed hispi cabbage, and pear and stem ginger pudding — among many other delicious-sounding starters, mains and desserts.
While the festive meals are indeed served inside a working prison, the restaurant itself is situated inside the old governor's house (dating back to 1819), fitted out with artworks and comfy banquettes. It's all very pleasant — and importantly, you'll be helping out a good cause, too; The Clink is a charity that trains up prisoners with hands-on experience and recognised qualifications, so they can build a new future after release.
Aside from the Christmas dinners, it's also selling gift vouchers and brownie/blondie gift boxes.
