In 2023, David Hockney's iPad-concocted Christmas trees were beamed onto the front of Battersea Power Station to dazzling effect.
This year, those trees could be yours; Apple (whose UK HQ is inside the art deco building) has launched a competition, which will see 24 winning submissions from the public projected onto Battersea Power Station's river-facing chimneys and wash towers, on Thursday 4 December 2025.
The competition is open now, and requires you to do the following:
- Have an iPad (what is it with Apple and compatibility?)
- Download the template to iPad, then open a drawing app to get started
- Create a Christmas tree — the more wonderful or weirder the better
- Submit entries here. They'll be accepted until midnight on Sunday 23 November 2025.
A further 12 commissioned designs will also feature in the display, including ones by Stephen Fry, Munya Chawawa and David Shrigley.
In other Christmas tree news, St Pancras station has revealed its 2025 offering as a massive rotating music box.
