Tottenham Court Road's Getting A Lick Of Paint
Artist Yinka Ilori takes to the streets.

Tottenham Court Road's getting a fresh lick of paint, with artist Yinka Ilori redesigning 11 pedestrian crossings along the road.

Part of London Design Festival, Ilori's been commissioned to redesign the pedestrian crossings on Tottenham Court Road, and six more in the City — in collaboration with local students, and the local community — with the designs staying in place till summer 2022.

You might remember London-based Ilori from his dodgems installation at Somerset House earlier this summer, and his artwork during the pandemic Better Days Are Coming I Promise, in Blackfriars.

This project's called Bring London Together, and is intended to 'bring a sense of joy and positivity', says Ilori, with the patterns representing people's interconnectedness and the importance of our relationships with each other.

The work's been created in partnership with the Mayor of London and Bloomberg Philanthropies, City of London, London Borough of Camden, and London Design Festival.
