Something fishy's going on in Soho... you can't smell it though.
Fishy Business is the latest installation from talented knitter, crocheter, embroiderer and sequinner Kate Jenkins. From 20 September-5 October 2024 you can admire a glistening array of her crafted lobster, shrimp, squid, salmon and sardines — displayed in a beautiful 'fish counter' setup at Air Contemporary in Ham Yard, Soho.
For those of you who enjoy the finer things in life, there's also an oyster cart, although we'd advise against necking back any of these particular bivalves. In the vein of the great Lucy Sparrow (who has opened up entire felt pharmacies), each of these fishy morsels is a handcrafted piece of art to be savoured forever.
As with any fish counter, the produce here is for sale, although it doesn't come cheap. An oyster (masochistically wielding its own bottle of Tabasco) will set you back six hundred squid quid. However, before you start carping, you can enjoy the show itself for free. The sheer, ahem, scale of it has us floundering. Surely the crowds will be packed in like sardines.
Now, how to wrap up this article? Oh yeah. Fin.
