Never-before-seen images of Amy Winehouse have gone on show, at a free exhibition in Knightsbridge.
Amy In The Light marks 10 years since the death of the north London singer-songwriter, who achieved legendary status, despite recording just two albums in her lifetime.
The images on show are by Winehouse's friend Phil Griffin, who worked as her creative on music videos during the 'Back to Black' period.
In one of the exhibition's photos, Winehouse poses wistfully in a bathtub — Griffin took it during the video shoot of You Know I'm No Good, which also produced the US version of her Back to Black album cover.
Says Griffin: "My relationship with Amy was gentle, not rock n roll, nor dramatic or chaotic at all. It was simple. I always felt protective, always felt close, even at a distance."
Many of the new works appear in mirror or dual format, with each image very slightly different from the next. Griffin explains that this allowed him to look at Winehouse as though both present and absent in the same moment.
"It reminds me that whilst we lost her too soon, we have her forever in so many other ways."
Amy In The Light is at the Brownsword Hepworth Gallery in Knightsbridge until 14 September 2021. Entry is free, and there's no need to book ahead.
