2021 Is The Year You Learn How To Photograph Your Pets Like A Pro

This is a sponsored article on behalf of Embassy Gardens.

No matter how gorgeous your pet is, getting a good photo of them can be a right pain. Not only does your pooch have little regard for their most flattering angles, but they're also probably more interested in licking your face than sitting still for the camera — one unfortunately-timed shutter click and your very good boy (or girl) ends up looking disturbingly Cujo-esque.

Luckily, London's pet-friendly neighbourhood, Embassy Gardens, is here to help. Following a sell-out session in December, the vibrant district in Nine Elms is teaming up again with award-winning photographer David Loftus to bring Londoners a virtual crash-course in pet photography in January, all in aid of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

Embassy Gardens' Photography Pawtrait Workshop takes place entirely via Zoom, so you and your four-legged friend can get creative and learn new skills in the comfort of your own home.

Every step of the way, you'll be guided by David, whose stripped-backed, fuss-free style has him earned numerous accolades and international acclaim. He's worked with the likes of Jamie Oliver, Pippa Middleton, and Rachel Khoo, and he's the brain behind the most successful downloadable camera pack to-date — the Loftus Lens — so you know you're in good hands.

Whether you're working with a pro camera or a smartphone that has seen better days, David will help you to achieve professional-quality results. From working with natural light to using props or fancy dress, you'll learn how to capture your furry family member at their best.

What's more, you'll even get the chance to win a pet photoshoot with David himself, plus a £500 voucher to spend at any of the lovely businesses that call Embassy Gardens home (we recommend cocktails at The Alchemist, or one of Linnaean's relaxing spa treatments). All you have to do is follow @embassygardens and @davidloftus on Instagram and tag both accounts when you share your final photo from the workshop on the platform. David will then handpick his favourite image to decide the winner.

The next Photography Pawtrait Workshop takes place at 3pm on Saturday 16 January, via Zoom. Tickets cost £10 per person, with all proceeds going to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, which cares for and rehomes thousands of vulnerable animals each year. Embassy Gardens, which already supports many of its residents with pet licences, has even pledged to match every donation.

Click here to get your tickets — the last Photography Pawtrait Workshop totally sold out, so you'll want to be quick about it.
