Win A Swedish Culinary Masterclass With Gizzi Erskine

Londonist 640

If the words Blåbärsjuice, Souvas, Havskräftor and Fika leave you confused rather than hungry, then you are in dire need of some culinary Swedish education (or Sweducation, as we like to think).

Sweden is a country of diverse, unique and incredibly stylish food. This month, Londoners have the chance to learn the delicate but entirely delicious art of Swedish gastronomy, with three days of Try Swedish culinary masterclasses.

Hosted by TV chef Gizzi Erskine and Great British Bake Off 2010 winner Edd Kimber, the masterclasses will focus on cooking, tasting and learning about the Nordic nation’s food and drink heritage. Sweden’s diverse climate produces some unique ingredients, and with Skåne wine, West Coast seafood, and reindeer all on the menu, it looks set to be an intriguing introduction to Swedish gastronomy.

Book yourself a place at one of Gizzi’s masterclasses to create a three course “Compass Menu”. Alongside Gizzi and three experienced Swedish chefs, you will cook and taste the very best of Sweden’s natural larder, with food and drink from three different regions - West Sweden, Skåne and Jämtland Härjedalen.

Or get inspired by the tradition of Fika (the big daddy of coffee breaks, which almost always includes accompanying sweet treats) with Edd Kimber, who joins up with London-based Swedish bakery Fabfrique for a hands-on demonstration of Swedish baking.

To celebrate the Try Swedish campaign, we are giving away two pairs of tickets to Gizzi Erskine’s “Swedish Compass Menu” masterclass on Thursday 21 November at 6pm. To be in with a chance of winning, just enter your name and email address below and click Submit.
