First Look: Rooftop Golf In East London

We were on top of the Stratford Centre last night, for the launch of Birdies rooftop golf. The guys behind last year's sell-out subterranean golf experience are back — this time with a lofty crazy golf experience.

It was a bit blowy up there, but the rain held off, while the clouds made for a dramatic backdrop.

The mini nine-hole course — while not as inventive as Shoreditch's Junkyard Golf — is good fun, with some tricky shots that may well send your ball scuttling off across the concrete.

Fortunately, none of our balls went flying off the roof itself.

A summery cocktail menu includes the Ruby — a concoction of Chambord, prosecco and port.

They have live music up there, too. And a rooftop cinema.

The views give you a different angle on London.

And there's some pretty cool art up here too.

Did we mention there are lots of drinks? There's great food too: from chilli dogs to Korean dishes to Peruvian quinoa.

We were fortunate with the weather, but as there's not much cover up here, we'd suggest you take waterproof and an umbrella. Sometimes it rains in London.

Birdies rooftop crazy golf is on top of the Stratford Centre, 54a Broadway, E15 1NG. Monday-Friday 5pm-11pm; Saturday noon-11pm; Sunday noon-10.30pm. Tickets £8-£9 per session. Book ahead to ensure a slot.
