A fire on the railway tracks at Vauxhall train station has closed the station and caused travel chaos in south London this morning.

Services in and out of Waterloo station have been severely disrupted, with passengers being advised to only travel where absolutely necessary. Vauxhall bus station is also closed.

Clapham Junction station was closed for a period of time due to overcrowding as commuters sought alternative routes to work, but was being gradually reopened as of about 9.15am, according to the South West Trains Twitter account.

Tickets are being accepted on Southern, Great Western Railway and TfL services, with delays of up to an hour expected until at least 10am.
