The UK’s largest bike exhibition comes to London this week as over 50,000 cyclists and fans descend on the London Bike Show at ExCeL in Docklands.
The event — running from 11-14 February — will see more than 300 brands flogging pretty much anything and everything to do with cycling, as well as loads of other stuff including test tracks so you can ride before you buy, a pop-up velodrome you can race on — and plenty of other races and demos.
There’s also a sprinkling of stardust as the eminently likable Sir Chris Hoy joins fellow Olympic gold medallist Chris Boardman and former Hour Record holder and Commonwealth gold medallist Alex Dowsett as speakers. Sir Chris will also be on the Hoy bikes stand for a while if you’d like to fawn over him.
Cycling in all forms is seeing a surge in London as sporting success combined with better road infrastructure is tempting more and more people out on two wheels. TfL recently projected that cyclists will outnumber in private cars in the rush hour mornings.
The show covers all forms of cycling, including road, mountain biking, BMX and commuting — something for everyone who likes spokes. Furthermore, the exhibition also gives you free entry to the Outdoor and Adventure Travel Show, the London International Dive Show (this Saturday and Sunday) and the Triathlon Show next door. Just as we were thinking of packing in our New Year’s resolutions...
The London Bike Show takes place at ExCeL London, Royal Victoria Dock, 1 Western Gateway, E16 1XL. Ticket costs depend on day, time and age.
