We were lucky that the Lumiere lights were on, on the few we visited. Grosvenor Square was more or less a no go zone, with the amount of people there.

I can understand it only being a 4 day event, as closing central London off for any longer would be madness but a longer event would give people more chance to see the event.

The Canary Wharf Winter Festival is on for 2 weeks and I have been along twice and there was plenty of room to see the lights and interact without all the madness.

I like that ITV lists "the highest number of *reporter* crimes". It'd be useful to know how the data correspond to number of passengers passing in / out of the stations.
