LAST CHANCE: The Wellcome Collection has filled an entire gallery with brightly coloured mist as part of a new installation by Ann Veronica Janssens. Contemplate the human consciousness or just enjoy the pretty colours. Free, just turn up, until 3 January

SOLSTICE SHORTS FESTIVAL: West Greenwich Library is celebrating the shortest day of the year with short stories, poetry and music provided by folk duo Ian Kennedy and Sarah Lloyd, plus traditional folk carols from Vocal Chords local community choir. Free, just turn up, 7pm

COMEDY: Robin Ince and Michael Legge do a live version of their Vitriola podcast at Bloomsbury Theatre studio, with guests Josie Long, Darren Hayman and My Grey Horse. £10/£15, prebook, 7.30pm

Good cause of the day

At the Art Takeaway Fundraiser you can pick up presents for the art lover in your life and raise money for Outskirts, a London based charity providing art therapy and advice to women and vulnerable people. Contributing artists include Bobby Baker, whose touring exhibition Diary Drawings premiered at the Wellcome Collection, and Mark Whithorn who won the British Institution Award at the Royal Academy of Arts. Art is reasonably priced between £10-£30. The event takes place at Espacio Gallery in Bethnal Green. Free, just turn up, 6.30pm-9pm
