Winterville 2015: Free Festival Arrives In Victoria Park Next Month

Free Christmas Festival Winterville returns to Victoria Park for its second year, in November.

Styled as a town, east London's answer to Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland is free to enter (although naturally, there's a charge for many attractions once you're in).

Said attractions include an ice rink, Santa's grotto and a circus, plus a pantomime of Snow White. The kids' area has a fairground, the Ferris wheel and merry-go-round. All the Christmas trimmings, basically.

Much of the action centres round the Spiegeltent, hosting comedy, cabaret, theatre and live music.

The 'town square' has the all-important pub (those less fond of being smacked in the face by Christmas might want to head here first to steel themselves), along with street food traders and festive markets.

Anyone wanting a slightly calmer visit can head to the Winter Night Garden, an indoor cinema designed to look like an enchanted forest, accessed by a tunnel of trees and screening a varied programme of wintry films.

Winterville 2015 is open 26 November-23 December. Entry is free, although many attractions are chargeable and need booking in advance.
