Escorts To Christmas Light Installers: Meet London's Night Workers

Londonist is proud media partner to 1000 Londoners Movie Nights

Over the next three weeks, documentary specialists 1000 Londoners hit cinemas with their ground-breaking series charting less ordinary lives in our city. From transgender comic magicians to professional wrestlers, each week the programme gets under the capital’s skin revealing untold stories and fascinating subcultures.

The first theme  — showing across London at a different cinema each evening — is Night Crawlers. It features Londoners who thrive in the nocturnal hours and includes escorts, cabaret artists and clubbers, as well as Trevor who puts up Christmas lights and Save Soho's Tim Arnold.

There'll also be discussions and Q&As with the filmmakers. Here's one to give you an idea of what you're in for: it's about Josh, the UK's highest earning gay male escort:

A bargain at a fiver a head, it promises to be a revealing night. Night Crawlers will be at these venues over the week:

The screenings are part of the BFI’s Britain on Film season and are supported by Film Hub London with Londonist as media partner. The following two weeks will see programmes themed as Easy Riders and Fight Club, but we'll tell you more about those nearer the time. 1000 Londoners is made by Chocolate Films and you can see a new short doc every Thursday on their website.
