London's Busiest Boris Bike: Found!

A few weeks back we set you the challenge of who could find London's busiest Boris bike.

Frankly, we weren't sure it would be possible — but sharp-eyed Ben Jewkes clocked it, and took a selfie with the trusty steed, serial number 16191.

When we set the challenge, London's busiest hire bike had been on 4,280 journeys. To mark the five years since the introduction of the cycle hire scheme, TfL is letting people access the bikes for free on the weekend of 22-23 August (meaning it won't charge the £2 access fee. Provided you keep your hire periods below 30 minutes, the bikes will be free to use). That means hard-working number 16191 will likely be clocking up some more miles.

Where did you get the data from? Did you get any other interesting tidbits? Also you say the bike has done 2.34 hires per day, but was that bike on the streets on the first day of the bike hire scheme? Or was it introduced later? Good fun anyway!
