You have just under three weeks left to apply to exhibit your artwork for free at Battersea Art Station.
The Battersea Art Station open weekend, held at Battersea Arts Centre at the end of September, will celebrate Battersea Power Station through the art it has inspired. Submissions are welcomed from professionals and amateurs alike, with cash prizes between £500-£1,000 awarded within each category. Whether you’ve a penchant for painting or a soft spot for sculpture, the important thing is to show off your own unique vision of this much-loved building.
As well as exhibiting at the open weekend itself, winning artists will also be given the opportunity to hang their work in the public spaces around Battersea Power Station when it reopens, viewable by thousands.
Now is a brilliant time to create an original artwork of the Power Station as it is in the midst of rebuilding its chimneys! Make your creative interpretation stand out from the rest by capturing it mid-transformation. Will anyone else include cranes, floodlights and scaffolding?
OK, we may not be the best people to give artistic advice but whether you’re artistic or not, save the date for Battersea Art Station’s open weekend of art, creative workshops, performances and children’s activities in September, including the all-important Power Station artworks. More on that soon.
Featured artists above are: David Wheeler, Sarah Adams, Luke Walker, Michael Wallner and Jason Lilley.
Battersea Art Station takes place at Battersea Arts Centre 25-27 September and is completely free. Submissions are welcomed until 10 August. Visit the website to find out more about how to get involved or keep up to date via Twitter with #BPSartstation.
