Fairytale Yurt Comes To South Bank

FabboatSQU-MED

Storytelling wizards Crick Crack Club are bringing their magical touch to South Bank this summer, in the form of a flag-bedecked yurt.

The Fabularium Fairytale Festival sets up its tent at OXO Tower Wharf from 24 July-2 August, with up to three performances of fairytale, myth, epic and fable every day.

Some of the UK's best performance storytellers, including Ben Haggarty and Nell Phoenix, will be spinning yarns and stretching imaginations inside the tented theatre.

Afternoon performances are for the whole family —aimed as much at adults as the children they bring— but things take a darker, ruder turn when evening falls and only adults are allowed. See the full programme here. There's also a pop-up shop and a starlit bar.

The festival culminates on 2 August with a Wildman competition. Get creative and take inspiration from the tales told throughout the festival: think yetis, cartoon characters and folklore. The best wild man, wild woman and wild child costumes will win prizes, but you must register in advance to take part.

Fabularium Fairytale Festival takes place 24 July-2 August (no performances 27 July) . Tickets for adult shows are £8, children's shows are £5 (family tickets £15) and need booking in advance.
