We've never seen one of these roaming London's streets, but by heck do we want to. Apparently it was created for a 1980's TV advert to promote the London Travelcard. Photo: Robert (2015)

When there was a beast of a rail strike planned for Monday and Tuesday next week (don't worry, it's been called off now), we thought might we introduce you to the wonder of the London bus. Yes, they tend to take you longer to get to your destination than their railed brethren, but at least you can enjoy the views of the city as you pootle along. They're generally cheaper than tubes too. And let's face it, with all these strikes flying around, sometimes you won't have a choice.

Thanks to the following photographers for use of their photos via the Londonist Flickr pool: Andrew Smith, Aiyaz1980, cdb41, Chris Guy, David Holt, HoosierSands, John Esslinger, Kathy Archbold, Liam Doyle, Marta Oreja, q..., Robert
