Kirsty Mitchell's Wonderland series is the culmination of a five year labour of love — it's a set of photographs created in homage to her mother who passed away in 2008. Mitchell has recreated the fairytales her mother used to read to her using a healthy dose of imagination, and her background in fashion is clearly evident in these elaborate set pieces.
All of the photographs are visually striking, filled with bright colours and surreal situations — both in the clothing worn and her interpretation of the natural world. In this world dresses can be made of books, and ships seem to grow on trees — it's completely over the top and all the better for it.
The full series consists of over 70 photographs and a selection of these will be available to view in the gallery, or all of them can be found on Mitchell's website. We're looking forward to seeing some of these fantastical images up close and in person.
