Planning on going out tomorrow? The Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union is set to strike on Saturday night, so you might want to look at alternative transport home.
From 9.30pm on Saturday 7 March until 3.59am on Sunday, drivers have been instructed not to book on for shifts in an ongoing dispute over the sacking of Alex McGuigan. Tube blogger ASLEF Shrugged has speculated that the union is holding the strike now to avoid having to re-ballot. With talks over pay and conditions also to now include staffing of the recently announced night tubes, a less disruptive strike in the short term means the RMT can keep its powder dry for further action if pay talks break down.
London Underground has said that if the strike does go ahead, it plans to run a good service on all lines. The DLR, London Overground and National Rail will not be affected.
