Tom Du Croz from LondonGigGuide selects four small/medium gigs around town this week.
Tuesday 30 September
Strand of Oaks, The Lexington, Angel/King's Cross

He has come all the way from Goshen, Indiana, to play this gig. This is heavy, strong American Folk/Pop which hints back to an 80s power ballad, without making you feel that you need to grow a mullet, but still inviting you to join in on air guitar. Great songwriting, full of heart and guts.
Thursday 2 October
Emma Ballantine, Paper Dress Vintage, Shoreditch
https://soundcloud.com/emmaballantine/emma-ballantine-flying-machine
This London based singer/songwriter knits together folk and jazz to produce something unique and beautifully inviting. She is a great live act to catch in such a cosy, intimate venue. Free entry.
Thidius, The Magic Garden, Battersea

Formed around siblings Izzy and George Risk, this five piece Electro Soul group produce smooth tunes that encourage the listener to sit back (possibly with drink in hand) and relax.
Friday 3 October
Ella and The Blisters, Jamboree, Cable Street

Folk/Cajun/Bluegrass all led by the amazing Gabriella Romano. The gig is happening at a gem of a little venue too — Jamboree is an oasis of glamour hidden inside an old warehouse.
