Dogs from across London are invited to strut their stuff on the cat dog walk at Old Spitalfields Market this bank holiday, in aid of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.
The Paw Pageant sees dogs take to the stage wearing outfits by well-known canine designer (we don't remember being given that as a career option at school) Lilly Shahravesh of LoveMyDog. Their owners will parade alongside them in the latest designs from the likes of Oliver Bonas, Jigsaw and Hackett.
Owners have a choice of four categories into which they can enter their pets: Dog-el-ganger, Dog’s got Talent, Dressed up to the Canines and Paw-fection. Looks like the organisers love a pun as much as Londonist does.
Other canine-centric activities are going on throughout the afternoon. Battersea Dogs Home will microchip dogs for free, and Las Iguanas will serve up a special ice cream for dogs. Too far? Perhaps.
Want to enter your dog? It's £8 if you register in advance, or £10 on the day. All money raised goes to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.
Paw Pageant takes place at Old Spitalfields Market on 25 August, 1pm-3pm.
