Imagine you’ve got just one day to spend in London — what would you do?

It’s a tough question, even for the most seasoned Londoner, but what if London is new to you? With thousands of shops, restaurants, parks, museums, shows and clubs to choose from, picking the best of the bunch is no easy task.

Kaplan International English, a leading provider of English language courses in the capital, surveyed 535 students from 48 countries who had been in London for at least four weeks and asked them the question: What do you love to do in London?

Hundreds of different suggestions were submitted, some frontrunners began to emerge from the bustling throng of London attractions and before long, a ‘dream day’ in in the capital took shape.

To bring the results to life, designer Al Boardman created a motion graphic from the survey. Take a look to find out what newcomers to London love to do. And if you know of a special green space in the City, a local museum tucked behind a main road or an under-appreciated restaurant serving exquisite food, then join the discussion here and submit your own recommendations.

P.S. Simply because it's incredible that London is home to such a huge variety of people, we’re going to list all the countries that the students surveyed originally come from. Ready? Deep breath …: Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, France,  Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Mexico, Mongolia, Netherlands, Oman, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Syria, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine, Venezuela, Vietnam, Yemen and Zimbabwe.
