Free Outdoor Theatre And Concerts At Canary Wharf

canarywharfconcerts1Canary Wharf is going all out with its free summer events programme. Over the next couple of months, catch Shakespeare, live music and opera.

Each Monday evening in July there's an outdoor performance of a Shakespeare play. Tonight (7 July) it's The Tempest, then comes Much Ado About Nothing, A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Merry Wives of Windsor. On 15 July Canada Square Park is one of the locations for a broadcast of La Bohème live from the Royal Opera House (other locations are in Trafalgar Square, Hammersmith, Walthamstow and Woolwich).

On 16 July a season of evening live concerts kicks off, featuring West End classics, Gershwin and Porter, sounds of the 50s and 60s, big band, boogie and swing. If you can't hang around until evening there's also some lunchtime concerts to accompany your sandwiches, starting 17 July and every Wednesday until 13 August.

All this is on top of screenings of the Commonwealth Games, grands prix, major golf championships and coverage of the WW1 commemorations.
